Children & Families Child Protective Services

Social Workers are available 24 hours a day/seven days a week to speak with individuals who have a concern regarding the well-being and or safety of children. Upon receipt of the concern the agency makes a determination about the appropriate level of intervention and begins to assess the family situation. The focus of the CPS unit is to maintain family stability as well as assuring the safety of the children.

Services

  • Information and Referral for additional services
  • Case Management
  • Child abuse and/or neglect investigations
  • Temporary foster care (when necessary)
  • Kinship Care
  • Adoption

Eligibility Guidelines

The only eligibility guideline is that the legal custodian of the child or children whom the concern is being made on, is a resident of Champaign County. The CPS team will become involved with the family upon receipt of a concern, irregardless of any other family demographics.
