Do all child abuse investigations end up with the Champaign County Department of Job & Family Services taking children away from their parents?
No. It is a myth that the agency's policy is to take children away from their family. In fact, the exact opposite is true. Children Service staff is trained to identify concerns regarding the safety of children in their home and to work with the family to remove those concerns while keeping the family intact. Only in the most severe cases does the worker look toward removal of the child from the home, and then only after all other family members have been explored and found to be unable to help.
